The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) is scheduled to begin the asphalt laying work under the major road construction project in Fonadhoo island of Laamu atoll, within the ongoing month.
Taking the project’s progress to Twitter, MTCC revealed that the ABC work as part of the road construction project is currently underway.
According to the company, a stretch of 3.5 kilometers of road will be tarred for which asphalt was transported to the island on August 13.
MTCC has completed the leveling component of the road construction project and 27,848 square meters of 12 roads will be tarred as part of the project.
Under the scope of the project MTCC will also be installing speed breakers, traffic signs as well as the plantation of a stormwater management system.
The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure contracted the road construction of Fonadhoo island to MTCC for a value of MVR 25.5 million.
The project was mobilized on June 26, last year.
