All preparations for the upcoming Edexcel International A’Level examination have been completed, says the Ministry of Education.

Deputy minister Mohamed Ihsan revealed that they have dispatched examination sheets and other relevant documents to the 33 examination halls and centers in residential islands.

Part of the work done also includes training invigilators and other officials who will be active during the examinations.

The ministry has also compiled a list of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) guidelines to be adhered to as the Covid-19 pandemic is still ongoing. These guidelines have been shared with the relevant officials including teachers and invigilators as well as students and parents.

Further, the ministry has also made arrangements in residential islands where students who have been placed in quarantine, may take part in the examinations. These arrangements have also been made in the capital, Malé City.

The deputy minister urged students to abide by the guidelines and wear face masks inside the exam halls or centers as well as carry a bottle of hand sanitizer with them throughout.

Parents of students taking part in the A’Levels have also been urged to take the necessary measures to ensure their safety. Parents is residential islands have been urged to avoid letting visitors from the capital region quarantine at their residences. Should a student need to be quarantined, parents are required to inform the examination centers immediately.

The ministry has given its assurance that all the relevant measures have been put in place to ensure the safety and security of students.

The examination is set to begin on Monday.

During March, the ministry delayed the examination which was initially slated for May and June, to October and November following the evolving situation of the pandemic across the globe.

This decision was followed by the government’s decision to close down schools, universities and educational institutes across the entire nation for a long period of time, as a precaution against the outbreak.
