President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has wished a speedy recovery to U.S. President Donald Trump and wife Melania, after they tested positive for Covid-19.

The U.S. president announced that he and Melania had tested positive for the infection, via Twitter early Friday morning. Melania has since revealed that she and her husband were "feeling good."

The Maldives president, also via Twitter, wished them a speedy recovery from him and wife, Fazna Ahmed.

Trump’s announcement came shortly after they had to go into self-quarantine, as one of the president’s top aides, Hope Hicks, tested positive for Covid-19.

While the U.S. president is considered “high risk” at the age of 74, the diagnosis is one of the most serious known health threats to a sitting American president in decades.

Trump’s last public event prior to the diagnosis was on Thursday, and is currently in the last lag of the country’s presidential elections. While Trump is running for a second term, the election is scheduled for November 3.
