Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) is seeking to lease lounge spaces in its new seaplane terminal building at Velana International Airport (VIA), to interested parties.

In a public tender publicized in the government gazette on Monday, MACL revealed that interested parties have the opportunity to register in the bidding process through an expression of interest by post, fax oremail.

Registration will be closed after 11am, September 23 and late comers will be rejected.

Interested parties are required to provide their full legal name, address and contact details when registering and tender documents will be shared with all registered parties via email after the registration period expires.

The opportunity is only open for registered seaplane, resort or tour operators and they are required to settle a bid security fee of USD 10,000 in accordance, for each proposing location.

Bids that are in compliance with the requirements highlighted in the tender document will be submitted in envelopes and delivered to the address noted in the tender document on or before 11am, October 11, revealed the airport operator.

Further, the company went on to reveal that bids from each bidder will be opened at 11am on October 11 at the MACL Corporate Office Building at VIA, in the presence of bidders or their authorized representatives who choose to attend.

MACL will deliberate and finalize the bid winners after an evaluation process is completed and the company will also conduct an optional site visit for registered parties at 11am on September 28.

The bid winners are required to do the setup and operations of their executive lounges, “on their own” in accordance with the guidelines and instructions provided by MACL.

A total of 3.5 hectares of land was reclaimed for the new seaplane terminal project, development of which was contracted to one of China’s renowned construction companies, Beijing Urban Construction Group for a total of USD 40 million.
