Monitoring measures have been placed in Manadhoo island of Noonu atoll, after an individual in home quarantine tested positive for the global Covid-19 pandemic.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that they had notified the island council that the island is under monitoring from 7:39pm onward on Friday.

Monitoring measures were placed for further inspections and contact tracing is underway.

Following this, entering and exiting the island has been prohibited, as ordered by the Director General of Public Health, Maimoona Aboobakuru.

Ahmed Rashad, a council member told RaajjeMV that an individual in home quarantine had tested positive for the infection upon the expiration of the 14-day period.

The island was placed under monitoring on a previous occasion as well, on May 1.

After a month since then, monitoring measures were lifted on June 1.

Back then, nine Covid-19 cases were confirmed from the island, the first case having been an 80-year-old woman who passed away after recovering from the virus.
