A man being treated at the Kulhudhuffushi isolation facility in Haa Dhaalu atoll, has passed away.
Kulhudhuffushi Online reports that the 58-year-old, native to Kelaa island, passed away on Tuesday night.
The man is to have been under home isolation after traveling to Kelaa island from the capital, a requirement given the huge number of Covid-19 cases detected in the capital region, and was transferred to the facility in Kulhudhuffushi on Tuesday after his health deteriorated.
His samples were tested for Covid-19 following death, and had come back positive.
While RaajjeMV understands that the man was undergoing cancer treatment, authorities have yet to announce whether this will be ruled a Covid-19 related death or not.
Maldives has seen a total of 29 deaths from Covid-19 thus far, while 8,741 cases have been confirmed since March. There had been a surge in cases with over 100 new cases detected daily, however, the country recorded less than 100 daily cases in the past three days.
