Maldives reported 137 more cases of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic on Wednesday.
129 out of the total cases reported by 6pm were in the Greater Malé Region, with eight having been reported from residential islands, revealed the Health Protection Agency (HPA).
The authority revealed that the new cases include 96 Maldivians and 41 foreigners.
This has pushed the country’s total case count to 8,140.
In addition to the 73 recoveries reported on Wednesday, the island nation’s total number of recovered patients has risen to 5,338.
Maldives currently has 2,767 active cases of the virus, which has taken 29 lives in the country since it was discovered on March 7.
While the number of Covid-19 patients seeking treatment at the hospital was at 162 the previous day, authorities reported that 166 patients are currently hospitalized for treatment and 1,365 patients are receiving treatment at isolation facilities.
Authorities also revealed the Covid-19 cases have been confirmed from 40 residential islands and 16 resorts including 15 tourists and 33 resort workers.
