Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom is “doing well” after testing positive for Covid-19.
His daughter, Heritage Minister Yumna Maumoon revealed this via Twitter on Wednesday and added that his symptoms are "mild."
Shortly after, the 82-year-old former president tweeted that he feels “reasonably well” and thanked all for the well wishes following Covid-19 diagnosis.
He was admitted at the 11th floor of Dharumavantha Hospital for treatment, shortly after.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Wednesday afternoon wished Gayoom “a speedy recovery”.
It is not clear on how Gayoom contracted the infection, and whether any other members of the family have tested positive.
