For the first time in over a week, Maldives reported fewer than 100 new daily cases of Covid-19 on Saturday.
96 cases were reported, all from the greater Malé region. The new cases include 64 locals, 26 Bangladeshis, four Sri Lankan nationals and one each from India and Nepal.
While this pushes the country’s Covid-19 case count to 6,660, there are currently 2,521 active cases.
An additional 101 recoveries were reported on Saturday, raising total recoveries to 4,113.
There have been 26 deaths from Covid-19, including four last week.
Noting that nearly 1,000 new infections were detected within the past week, Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC)’s spokesperson Dr. Nazla Rafeeq on Saturday reiterated appeal to follow Covid-19 preventive measures in order to control spread.
