Two individuals under home quarantine in Thinadhoo island of Vaavu atoll, have tested positive for the global Covid-19 pandemic.
The Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) revealed that samples were collected from them for Covid-19 testing, following the completion of their quarantine period.
The patients are a woman and a man, both 36 years of age.
According to the latest statistics revealed by the Health Protection Agency (HPA), coronavirus cases have been discovered from a total of 19 regions across the Maldives, with the inclusion of Feydhoo and Hithadhoo districts of southernmost Addu City.
The authority’s latest guidelines mandate the use of face masks in islands where Covid-19 cases have been confirmed.
Further, HPA revealed that monitoring measures will only be placed in islands where Covid-19 cases have been confirmed, if the home-quarantined individuals that test positive, are found to have violated the guidelines set for the quarantine procedure, during the period.
Although release samples test positive, individuals will not be taken into quarantine facilities if they are not deemed high-risk patients.
