Maldives reported 106 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus on Sunday.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed via its nightly publication that 99 of the confirmed new cases were reported from the Greater Malé Region, whereas the remaining seven were reported from outlying islands.
The new cases include 79 Maldivians, 21 Bangladeshi nationals, five Indian nationals and one national from Nepal.
The country’s Covid-19 cases count has risen to 5,785.
With a steady growth in recoveries being reported of recent, the number of patients who have recovered from the virus in the island nation has been pushed to 3,349.
The number of hospitalized patients remain unchanged from Saturday’s 146, and the number of patients receiving treatment at isolation facilities is currently at 1,481.
Maldives currently has 2,414 active cases of the infection.
Further, HPA revealed that Covid-19 cases have been detected in outlying as well, this includes in tourist resorts.
As such, there are active cases in nine resorts, including 13 staff members and five tourists.
With the inclusion of two regions in southernmost Addu City, Covid-19 cases have been detected in a total of 15 outlying islands thus far.
