Maldives has confirmed additional cases of the global Covid-19 pandemic, in five outlying islands.
The individuals tested positive upon being released from home quarantine and include a 22-year-old woman from Miladhoo island in Noonu atoll, a six-year-old boy from Maamigili island, a 29-year-old man from Himmafushi island in Kaafu atoll, a four-year-old boy from Nilandhoo island in Faafu atoll and a 40-year-old man from Hulhudhuffaaru island in Raa atoll.
The positive cases after home-quarantine comes at a time positive cases were discovered from Milandhoo and Hulhudhuffaaru previously as well.
According to the latest guidelines publicized by the Health Protection Agency (HPA), citizens from island where Covid-19 cases have been confirmed, are mandated to wear face masks.
The Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) has since revealed that the islands will only be placed under monitoring if authorities find out that the positive patients had gone against the quarantine guidelines, during their home-quarantine period.
Islands will not be placed under monitoring if the situation is not presented.
