The State Trading Organization (STO) has installed medical equipment at the regional Covid-19 facilities across the Maldives.
In a Twitter post on Saturday, the company revealed that the provision of these equipment “is crucial” in the country’s fight to battle the spread of the global Covid-19 pandemic.
The medical equipments were installed in Hulhumalé Medical Facility and seven other regional Covid-19 facilities spanning the island nation.
With the installation of 23 hospital beds and seven ICU beds in the southernmost Hithadhoo Regional Hospital, its bed capacity has increased.
Services that have been made available at the regional facilities currently include hospital patient life support, medical consumables for patient care and treatment, lab consumables for Covid-19 testing as well as respiratory tests and pharmaceuticals for Covid-19 treatment.
In addition, STO has also provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits to healthcare workers.
Included among the type of machines installed are under-patient monitoring and life support, ventilators, defibrillators, ECG machines, vital sign monitors, patient monitors, central monitors, infusion pumps and syringe pumps.
