Maldives confirmed 61 new cases of the global Covid-19 pandemic on Wednesday.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA)’s latest statistics regarding the Covid-19 situation in the Maldives reveals that the new cases have pushed the Covid-19 tally in the island nation to 3,567.

The new cases include 44 Maldivians, 15 Bangladeshi nationals and two Indians.

Further, HPA noted that all 61 new cases were confirmed from the Maldives capital, Malé City.

Authorities further reported seven recoveries from the virus, pushing the total recoveries to 2,554.

While the global pandemic has taken 15 lives in the island nation thus far, the country has 983 active cases.

657 individuals currently remain isolated with none in the quarantine facilities established across the nation following the surfacing of coronavirus in the nation.

HPA further publicized a list of islands with active cases on Wednesday.

  • Cheval Blanc Randheli in Noonu atoll
  • Soneva Jani in Noonu atoll
  • Dhuvaafaru island in Raa atoll
  • Hulhudhufaaru island in Raa atoll
  • Inguraidhoo island in Raa atoll
  • Eydhafushi island in Baa atoll
  • Hithadhoo island in Baa atoll
  • Seaside finolhu in Baa atoll
  • Maafushi island in Kaafu atoll,
  • Thoddoo island in Alif Alif atoll and
  • Kurendhoo island in Lhaviyani atoll
