A pregnant woman admitted at Hulhumalé Hospital, has tested positive for the global Covid-19 pandemic.

Local media outlets have cited the Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) having stated that the pregnant woman was tested after she was admitted at Hulhumalé Hospital to go into labor.

Her results came back positive on Saturday morning, however, HEOC has not disclosed further information regarding the matter yet.

It is not clear whether the woman contracted the virus before or after she got pregnant and no details have been disclosed by the Hulhumalé Hospital either.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA)’s latest updates of the Covid-19 situation reveal that 55 more cases were reported by 6pm Friday. This pushes the total case count to 3,175.

70 additional recoveries were also reported on Friday, pushing the total recoveries to 2,498.
