Two official Covid-19 management facilities have been opened in Villingili island of Gaaf Alif atoll and Gan island of Laamu atoll.

The inauguration took place via a virtual ceremony on Tuesday night.

The Covid-19 treatment facility in Villingili has 23 beds in the Intensive Care Unit and a ventilator whereas Gan Covid-19 facility has 20 ICU beds, 15 isolation beds and 12 beds for quarantined individuals.

The Ministry of Health revealed that Covid-19 testing has been made available at both facilities.

Asides from the Greater Malé Region, authorities have established Covid-management facilities across five regions. As such, a Covid-management facility has been established in Shaviyani Funadhoo, for the regions including Haa Alif, Haa Dhaal and Shaviyani atolls.

A Covid-management facility is also stationed in Eydhafushi island of Baa atoll for the region where Noonu, Raa, Baa and Lhaviyani are included.

These facilities were opened during July 16.

The newly opened facility in Gan island will provide treatment across Meemu, Faafu, Dhaalu, Thaa and Laamu as well. Further, the newly opened facility in Villingili island offers treatment across Gaaf Alif and Gaaf Dhaal.

One of the facilities is also established in southernmost Addu City’s Hithadhoo district, for the regions including Addu and Fuvahmulah cities.

All of the facilities have at least 20 beds in the ICU as well as 30 isolation beds, revealed the Health Ministry.

The ministry also revealed that a three-bed ICU facilities have been established in Ihavandhoo island of Haa Alif atoll and Fuvahmulah City for critical patients.
