Maldives Police Service (MPS) has filed an appeal on the order issued by Magistrate Court over the custodianship of the Koagannu graveyard in S. Meedhoo.
Speaking to Raajje.mv, Police Media official said even though the appeal had been filed, they will follow the Court order and will continue to take care of the graveyard.
The appeal was filed by a citizen of Meedhoo over the destruction of the graveyard. The ruling issued on Police by the Magistrate Court on Thursday said that Koagannu was a location of historical significance and as such must be protected from vandals and vandalism.
Kogannu had not been maintained properly over the years and as such has been exposed to the elements and acts of vandalism.
