MP Riyaz Rasheed removed from Financial Committee after years as a Member

Vilufushi Constituency Member of Parliament Riyaz Rasheed has been removed from the Parliament Committee on Finance.

Parliament Speaker Abdullah Maseeh had made the announcement at the start of Tuesday’s Parliament session, also announcing that Feydhoo Constituency MP Ibrahim Didi as his replacement.

Riyaz is one of the longest serving members at the Committee, having been appointed to the Committee in the 17th Parliament. He was then from the now annulled Dhivehi Qaumee Party.

After his reelection to the Parliament, he was once again appointed to the Committee.

Ruling Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) Parliamentary Group did not reveal why the Parliamentarian was removed. MP Riyaz was unavailable for comment at the time.
