Maziya Sports and Recreation is in talks with two local coaches, to replace coach Marjan Sekulovski.
The Macedonian has left the island nation, following the end of his contract with Maziya.
Maziya decided against renewing agreement with Sekulovski, due to economic impacts faced by the club due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
An official at the club confirmed to RaajjeMV that they are working to appoint a local coach for the upcoming football season.
While the official revealed that discussions are underway with two coaches, he did not disclose their names.
As Maziya works to sign a coach for the upcoming season, it will play a match in the AFC Cup on October 23.
While the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) is yet to announce a date for the upcoming season, work is underway to commence the season in December.
Sekulovski was the first foreign coach signed by Maziya. He was appointed in 2017, and carried the team to victory in the Malé League that year. While they renewed Sekulovski’s contract last year, the club won Dhivehi Premier League champions as well a spot in the group stage of the AC Cup.
