Maziya has faced their first defeat in the STO Male’ League’s second round, after being defeated by Victory.
Maziya reached the second round of the tournament by maintaining a clean sheet for the whole of the first round and maintained their top spot on the league. Maziya were defeated by 1-0.
Victory had dominated the match, delivering beautiful passes and playing an attacking game.
The sole goal of the match came at the 40th minute, scored by Musthafa Sedik. Maziya had tried to rally their game after the goal but failed to convert it to a goal.
Prior to the match, Maziya’s coach noted that his players were exhausted, adding that this was an advantage to Victory.
In spite of the defeat, Maziya is still on top of the table, with 21 points from eight matches. Only three points separates Maziya from second placed New Radiant. Victory is placed fifth with 11 points, dethroning Eagles from the spot. However, Eagles has a chance of getting back on the fifth position if they secure three points from their match against United Victory.
