Maldives has reported 24 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday.
The new cases include 11 locals and 13 foreigners (seven Bangladeshi and six Indian nationals).
With this, the country’s Covid-19 total has reached 2,361.
While an additional 17 recoveries were also reported on Tuesday, total recoveries is at 1,944.
Maldives reported its ninth Covid-19 related death on Tuesday; a 43-year-old Filipino national passed away while receiving treatment at the 11th floor of the Dharumavantha Hospital. Previous Covid-19 victims include four locals and four Bangladeshi nationals.
The country’s Covid-19 active cases is currently at 403.
While Maldives’ first Covid-19 cases were discovered from a resort on March 7, a community transmission was confirmed in the capital on April 15. A lockdown was imposed in the region immediately, and authorities began easing restrictions on May 29.
The country will enter a new phase in the fight against Covid-19 on Wednesday, which will see more eases including the reopening of government offices and businesses as well as mosques.
