A 35-year-old arrested under suspicions of sexually assaulting a minor has been remanded.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that they have launched investigations into the case of the 35-year-old man, arrested under suspicions of sexually assaulting his 13-year-old daughter over the course of several days.
Arrested is a Maldivian man.
Officers stationed in Veymandoo island of Thaa atoll made the court-ordered arrest on June 25, after a report was lodged.
The man has been remanded by eight days by the Veymandoo Magistrate Court, at a location to be decided by the Ministry of Home Affairs, as investigations proceed.
Sexual assault cases are being reported more frequently of recent, with two such cases even having being reported to have taken place inside two guesthouses in capital Malé City, recently.
Police earlier revealed that such cases will be investigated as serious cases.
