17 new Covid-19 cases have been reported in the Maldives, on Thursday.
While this brings the country’s Covid-19 case count to 2,277, this includes seven locals and 10 Bangladeshi nationals.
Further, with the recovery of an additional nine patients, total recoveries is at 1,848.
Hence, there are 416 active cases in the country currently. Eight Covid-19 related deaths have been confirmed as well.
While Maldives’ first Covid-19 cases were detected from a resort on March 7, a community spread was confirmed over a month later on April 15 which led to a full lockdown in the greater Malé region. The country began lockdown easing on May 29, and entered phase two on June 15.
