Covid-19: Maldives' new cases increase compared to previous week
160 new cases reported this week; 123 cases the previous week
37 new cases reported on Saturday
1,788 recoveries recorded thus far

While Maldives has reported a total of 2,187 Covid-19 cases thus far, 160 cases were confirmed this week.

As per the Health Ministry’s Covid-19 Dashboard,

  • June 14 - 20 cases
  • June 15 - 36 cases
  • June 16 - 22 cases
  • June 17 - 26 cases
  • June 18 - 6 cases
  • June 19 - 13 cases
  • June 20 - 37 cases

While 160 cases were confirmed this week, this is more than the previous week which saw 123 cases.

The new cases reported on Saturday include 19 locals, as well as 12 Bangladeshis and six Indians.

The country’s recovery rate is currently over 80 percent with a total of 1,788 recoveries.

And while there have been eight Covid-19 related deaths, there are currently 389 active cases in the country.

While Maldives’ first Covid-19 cases was detected from a resort on March 7, a community spread was confirmed over a month later on April 15. The country began lockdown easing on May 29, and is currently in phase two.
