One of them, “Sarudhaaru” Dhon Manik tested positive for the infection on May 29 and was admitted at the Tree Top Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for treatment.

He was transferred back home after full recovery on Wednesday.

In an interview with a local news outlet, his son, Ahmed Shuaib stated that they found out that he had contracted the virus, upon consulting with a doctor for another health issue. His treatment was carried out under the recommendations of doctors.

Shuaib added that his father’s condition had not worsened during treatment and that services received at the hospital were well organized.

Talented artist and the pioneer of souvenir art in the Maldives, Dhon Manik designed the first Maldivian Rufiyaa banknotes.

Authorities prioritize treatment for cases of elderly patients as they are categorized as high-risk patients for the pandemic.
