Authorities have decided to reopen offices, schools, all educational institutes and mosques from July onwards.

Assistant Director at the Ministry of Health, Aminath Shaina Abdulla joined the press briefing on Thursday night to update the public regarding the current Covid-19 measures and as such, revealed that operations are underway to open offices, schools and mosques during July.

Relevant ministries are currently working to arrange the reopening of these places under specific guidelines compiled by the Health Protection Agency (HPA).

The Greater Malé Region was locked down on April 15 following the detection of the first community transmission and schools, offices and educational institutes have remained closed alongside congregational prayers being suspended.

Shaina revealed that arrangements will also be made to commence sports activities and allow services at restaurants and cafés from June 15 onwards.

The ministry has revealed that food outlets will be allowed to operate within a specific period for takeaways and deliveries.
