The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) will be briefing the public regarding the next phase of the lockdown ease plan on Wednesday night.
Speaking during Tuesday’s press briefing, the task force’s spokesperson, Mohamed Mabrook Aziz revealed that they believe the public needs to be prepared and well informed of the upcoming phase under the lockdown ease plan.
Mabrook stated that although they had planned to share information regarding the next phase of the plan on Tuesday, they had decided to hold a detailed briefing on Wednesday night, as policy decisions were underway at the time.
As such, officials from the Ministry of Health active in the planning process of the lockdown ease, will be joining the press briefing on Wednesday night.
Authorities began implementing the lockdown ease plan on May 29, in phases and the fortnight of the first phase ends on Thursday.
Although a number of restrictions have been lifted since the ease plan began, travel restrictions are still in place and high-risk individuals such as children and elders are still not permitted to go outdoors.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) has been issuing permits to go out for essentials, to three individuals from each household for two hours, two days a week.
