ADK Hospital has revealed that the price set for Covid-19 testing at the establishment is low and that it is the lowest price for testing in the Maldives.

Joining the press briefing held at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) on Monday night, Ahmed Affaal, Managing Director at the hospital revealed that the current price is the lowest price for Covid-19 testing in the island nation and that it is lower than the actual price for Covid-19 testing.

This comes at a time the public has been raising concern over the price set for Covid-19 testing at the hospital; MVR 675 which a number of people deem expensive.

ADK is also the only privately-run hospital authorized to conduct Covid-19 testing.

Affaal stressed that hard work is required to make arrangements for Covid-19 testing after specifying a separate laboratory for the task and that arrangements will not be settled just upon stationing a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing machine.

The hospital placed the order for a PCR testing machine during February and Affaal noted that they faced delays in receiving their order due to the high-demand for these machines across the globe.

ADK has also revealed that they aim to keep the machine operational even after the Covid-19 situation simmers down.

Earlier, NEOC’s spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Aziz revealed that Covid-19 tests done through the privately run ADK hospital will be paid for and covered by Aasandha.
