Maldives Police Service (MPS) has fined a renowned eatery, Mazada café for violating the orders of the Health Protection Agency (HPA).
In a message to media outlets, the authority revealed that they had a team of officers were deployed to the region after police received reports that the café was providing services to the public.
Four individuals were at the café without acquiring the required permit and they have since been fined.
The café was fined as per protocol, for going against the orders regarding service provision during the lockdown period.
The authorities earlier banned dine-in services at local restaurants and cafés following the lockdown imposed across the Greater Malé Region on April 15.
However, businesses are allowed to provide delivery services, under a special permit that must be acquired through the police service.
Maldives began implementing the lockdown ease plan in phases, on May 29 and in the first phase, restaurants and food outlets are permitted to provide take out options to their customers, on the second week.
This service will be allowed under a special permission by the HPA as well.
