The president noted that the People’s Majlis is an “important partner” to achieve the development goals of the incumbent administration.

He highlighted that they are committed to work together for all Maldivians.

In a separate Twitter post, Speaker Nasheed highlighted that the two leaders had met a few individuals on the road on Thursday, going on to express gratitude to those who are actively delivering raw fish to the people, at a time the Greater Malé Region is locked down and the country is locked in a battle with the Covid-19 pandemic.

Of recent, there have been differences of opinion between the government and some members of the parliament regarding motions submitted to the parliament.

With this being said, a few lawmakers representing the main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) have also criticized a number of cabinet ministers following accusations of not being capable of upholding their ministerial duties.
