Police to limit number of customers allowed into smaller shops at once
Stickers will be posted outside the shops
Shops will be allowed to operate from 9am to 9pm
Police will allocate an adequate number of customers that may be served at once at these establishments

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has revealed that authorities will be limiting the number of customers that smaller shops may serve at a time.

Joining the press briefing at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) on Thursday night, Assistant Commissioner of Police Dr. Abdulla Fairoosh revealed that as the authorities begin implementing the lockdown ease plan on Friday, officers will be posting stickers outside smaller shops scattered across the Greater Malé Region that detail the number of customers that are to be allowed in at once.

Highlighting that there are guidelines that businesses need to uphold to do their part as well, Fairoosh noted that shop owners and staff must ensure that arrangements have been made to ensure there is a minimum distance of three feet between customers.

Within the upcoming days, Fairoosh stated that officers will post stickers outside of smaller shops after accessing the physical space within the establishments.

These stickers will detail the maximum number of customers to be allowed in at once and how services must be provided.

Businesses will be allowed to operate from 9am to 9pm every day and individuals will be allowed to operate their vehicles under this permission.

This will also ensure social distancing is maintained, said Fairoosh.
