Covid-19 lockdown ease
Same protocol will not be followed for all businesses: Dr. Fairoosh
Each individual was given one hour during the lockdown period to go out for essentials
The time has been increased to two hours
Two separate protocols will be followed for businesses

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Dr. Abdulla Fairoosh has revealed that permits to commence businesses cannot be given in the same manner for all establishments.

Speaking to press on Thursday night, the Assistant Police Commissioner noted that that new protocols being followed will increase the movement on streets.

Highlighting that each individual was given one hour during the lockdown period, Dr. Fairoosh noted that since the time has been increased to two hours, this will increase the movement on the roads of the Greater Malé Region.

However, changes have been brought to the timings now, as such, shops will be opened from 9am to 9pm every day to provide services to the public.

Under this protocol, the same methods cannot be implemented for every business, he added, noting that a different protocol will be followed for delivery businesses.

Some establishments are places the public have to go to purchase their essentials and other places are ones that will only be allowed to deliver. We will follow to protocols when issuing permits and we want the people to respect the procedure. Those who do not comply will have their permits revoked. There have been such situations in the past where permits were revoked”
Dr. Abdulla Fairoosh, Assistant Commissioner of Police

Fairoosh highlighted that they do not expect any issues with this procedure as authorities believe a majority of the public adhere to the regulations set by the authorities. However, the number of individuals going out on the streets will be increased now due to the lockdown ease that was implemented on Thursday.
