Maldives has confirmed 43 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) on Wednesday morning.

Making the reveal, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that this pushes the country's Covid-19 case count to 1,186.

The new cases include a majority of Bangladeshi nationals, at 28.

Further, 10 Maldivians, four Indians and one Nepali national are also included among the new cases.

Covid-19 cases have been spiking in the Maldives since the community transmission was discovered on April 15, the capital Malé City has been under lockdown since.
