70 more will go home via a BAF flight on Sunday

Over 300 undocumented Bangladeshi nationals have been repatriated from Maldives.

Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid, via Twitter, said that 353 Bangladeshis were repatriated via a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airline on Saturday. The flight was charted by the Maldivian government.

Further, 70 more are to be sent home on Sunday, via a Bangladesh Air Force flight.

The foreign ministry said that this is part of its joint efforts with the economic ministry to send off undocumented migrant workers back home.

About 70 undocumented Bangladeshi workers were repatriated via a BAF flight back in April as well.

The ministry also said that the Bangladeshi High Commission in the Maldives has been assisting in the repatriation efforts.

Minister Shahid in his tweet also thanked the government of Bangladesh and all the agencies involved in the process “for their tireless efforts”.

The chartered Biman airline and BAF flights arrived in the Maldives with essential supplies, and the foreign minister thanked the government and people of Bangladesh "for their kindness and generosity".
