A boat has been left in pieces after running aground the breakwater near the West Park region of Maldives capital Malé City on Friday afternoon.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) revealed that “Minvaru” was en route to the capital from Kaashidhoo island in Kaafu atoll with four people onboard.

The boat is to have run aground near the West Park region after the engine stopped, the authorities revealed the report at around 1pm on Friday.

The passengers onboard were removed from the vessel safety and they are reportedly in stable condition.

The boat also had a number of items being transported to Malé via Kaashidhoo and the boat has been left completely damaged, beyond use.

This comes at a time the authority as well as the Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has urged caution while travelling due to the adverse weather conditions expected to prevail over the entirety of the Maldives.
