Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested an individual in a drug operation carried out in Feeali island of Faafu atoll.

The operation was carried out under the joint efforts by the police desk officers stationed on the island and the Police Intelligence Unit as part of the authority’s efforts to curb drug trafficking and smuggling in the country.

During the operation conducted on May 11 after a tip-off, officers arrested a 34-year-old Maldivian man.

Officers confiscated nine rubber packets filled with suspected narcotics upon searching the man.

The police station in Nilandhoo island of the same atoll is carrying out further investigations into the case.
