Authorities have said that a patient transferred from southernmost Addu City, who tested positive for Covid-19 earlier on Saturday, “is now confirmed as negative”.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed this via Twitter.
The patient was transferred to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) from the Addu Equatorial Hospital.
RaajjeMV understands that the man returned to the city from a resort, on March 10.
While the first sample taken had tested positive for Covid-19, two additional tests were carried out for confirmation.
Following the initial positive result, work was launched to identify the patient’s contact. Those placed under isolation after contact tracing include doctors and nurses at the Addu Equatorial Hospital as well. The city was also placed under lockdown for a 14-day period.
