Officers discovered a packet and empty film canister filled with suspected narcotics

MPS has been carrying out an operation against drug smuggling and trafficking in all regions of the Maldives

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has confiscated narcotics that were smuggled into Maamigili island of Raa atoll.

Police revealed that they received the report of an unattended package inside a boat that carried goods to the island via capital Malé City and took the package under their supervision on May 7.

Upon inspecting the package, officers discovered a packet and empty film canister filled with suspected narcotics.

Further investigations have since been launched into the case.

Police are yet to make any arrests in connection to the case.

MPS has been carrying out an operation against drug smuggling and trafficking in all regions of the Maldives.
