This was revealed by the task force’s spokesperson, Mohamed Mabrook Aziz on Tuesday night.

Noonu Atoll Hospital revealed to RaajjeMV that the woman tested positive to the virus on May 1 and that she had consulted the doctor in the island on April 29.

She was not treated for Covid-19 symptoms, added the hospital officials.

The patient was brought to Malé after her condition deteriorated on Thursday night and was tested for Covid-19 at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Her first test results came back positive on Friday.

However, the second samples tested negative for the virus upon which authorities took more samples, which was reported to have tested positive again, on Tuesday.

The 80-year-old patient is currently being treated at the 11th floor of Dharumavantha Hospital, revealed the Health Protection Agency (HPA)’s Epidemiologist Ibrahim Afzal.

Authorities further revealed that the contacts of the patient from Manadhoo have tested negative to the virus. The island was placed under monitoring status and 17 staff from the Noonu Atoll Hospital were placed under isolation.
