Special permit holders are to be allowed entry into Maldives.
This was revealed at the daily press conference at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC), on Saturday night.
While Maldives stopped issuing on-arrival visas on March 27 as a precautionary measure against the spread of Covid-19, authorities have decided to grant special permits to certain parties such as resort owners and investors as well as officials from international institutions.
Noting that the decision was made by the Technical Advisory Group (TAG), Mabrook said that those that arrive in the country under the special permits will also be required to undergo a 14-day quarantine period.
They will be tested for Covid-19 within 24 hours after arrival, with a second round of testing to be carried out after the quarantine period.
They will also be given the opportunity to arrange their own accommodation.
