Over 3,000 contacts of Covid-19 cases have been identified.
Covid-19 taskforce’s spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Aziz revealed that a total of 3,043 people was identified through contact tracing and that 294 buildings/apartments have been placed under monitoring.
Also at the press conference, Dr. Ibrahim Afzal revealed that 101 primary contacts of the ‘Amaaz’ boat captain who tested positive for Covid-19 after taking 98 passengers to the north from the capital, have also been identified.
The 49-year-old Maldivian started the trip on April 15, the same day a community transmission was confirmed in the city, and is to have travelled on both the 15th and 16th.
The boat took passengers to 13 islands in the north, they are;

- Kendhikulhudhoo, Noonu
- Velidhoo, Noonu
- Holhudhoo, Noonu
- Narudhoo, Shaviyani
- Funadhoo, Shaviyani
- Milandhoo, Shaviyani
- Feevah, Shaviyani
- Maaungoodhoo, Shaviyani
- Dhihdhoo, Haa Alifu
- Utheemu, Haa Alif
Maldives has confirmed a total of 226 Covid-19 cases thus far; this includes 89 Maldivians and 137 foreigners. Out of the 226 cases, 206 is due to a community transmission.
