173 samples take from Kuredu Island Resort have tested negative for Covid-19.
While authorities earlier revealed that all the samples taken from the resort have been tested, this was revealed by Covid-19 spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Aziz during Sunday night's press briefing.
Authorities initially decided to collect samples from the island, as the cases discovered there were different to others. Mabrook also revealed that the remaining samples are being processed. All individuals currently stranded in Kuredu will be released after being tested.
While the first two cases of the virus emerged in the Maldives from Kuredu after an Italian tourist tested positive to the disease upon returning home from his vacation there, the Maldives Police Service (MPS) began a criminal investigation into this case.
Since then, the Maldives Immigration Office has been ordered to seize the passport of a doctor from the resort, due to negligence in the case.
