Two resorts of a renowned hospitality group in the Maldives, Atmosphere Hotels and Resorts have provided assistance to the homeless individuals currently under state care.
This was revealed by the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services via Twitter on Sunday.
As such, two of the group’s luxurious resorts, VARU by Atmosphere and OZEN by Atmosphere at Maadhoo extended a generous donation of food supplies for the individuals living in temporary shelters provided by the government.
Alongside these resorts, several private associations are also providing assistance for these individuals, who were rescued by authorities following the lockdown imposed by the government on April 15.
While the lockdown remains in effect until April 30, over 100 individuals have been provided shelter some of which include resort employees, homeless individuals as well as those who were forced to evacuate their homes after failing to pay rent amid the Covid-19 crisis.
The government as well as the public have been extending aid to these individuals, in several forms, this includes setting up temporary shelters in local schools.
A total of 136 individuals have been provided shelter thus far, said the ministry.
