A foreigner who was found dead on the 19th of this month had tested negative for coronavirus, authorities revealed on Friday.

While he was found lying on the road in the Maafannu ward of the capital, Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said that doctors had pronounced him dead on arrival at the hospital.

They revealed that the man was 50 years of age, but nothing further was disclosed in the case.

A reporter had posed the question at the press conference held at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) on Friday night, and spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Aziz stated that the man was tested for Covid-19.

Mabrook said that “he had tested negative”.
