Government’s Covid-19 spokesperson, Mohamed Mabrook Aziz, revealed this at Friday night’s press conference

An additional person that tested positive for Covid-19, has recovered.

The government’s Covid-19 spokesperson, Mohamed Mabrook Aziz, revealed this at Friday night’s press conference, following a question from a reporter.

Mabrook said that this individual tested positive after returning from United Kingdom on March 30, adding that Case 18 has tested negative twice since testing positive.

He said that despite the person testing negative twice, that health experts have decided to conduct an additional test. Mabrook said that a person can only be released after proper analysis.

The spokesperson added that the team has decided to further observe those with extreme symptoms, even if they have tested double negative.

Noting that there are currently two people in isolation despite testing negative, Mabrook stressed the Health Protection Agency (HPA) had previously announced their recovery.

All arrivals from abroad are being quarantined for 14 days at facilities since March 21, as per protocol, and are released after testing.

A total of 128 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Maldives. These are 60 Maldivians and 68 foreigners including the ones that were confirmed from tourist establishments back in March.
