Over 90 people were placed under police custody for violating lockdown orders, while one was fined.
Government’s Covid-19 spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Aziz revealed this at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC)’s daily press briefing, which is now being held via video conference following the confirmation of a community spread in the capital.
Noting that the city is under lockdown, Mabrook said that a total of 92 people were placed under custody at the time of the press conference while one individual was fined.
Police warned that action will be taken against any individual that is found to be violating lockdown orders, from Friday night.
While a person found to have breached the lockdown will face a MVR 1,000 fine the first time, repeat offenders will be arrested under Articl 533 (a) of the Penal Code.
