The government of Bangladesh has provided aid to the Maldives government’s efforts against Covid-19.

The free aid includes staple food items, fruits, vegetables as well as essential medicines.

The Bangladeshi government has also provided some medical equipment to be used in the Maldives government’s Covid-19 response efforts.

A Bangladeshi navy boat is currently on its way with a shipment weighing 100 tonnes.

This comes at a time the Maldives Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid has discussed the evacuation of Maldivian students residing in the country, who wish to return home, with his Bangladeshi counterpart, over the past week, as well as the repatriation of Bangladeshi workers that wish to return home.

FM Shahid has also expressed gratitude to the Bangladeshi government for their generous aid on behalf of the government and people of Maldives, and noted that this shows the close ties between both countries.
