50 Maldivians have been evacuated from Trivandrum, India, amid the Covid-19 crisis.
National airline, Maldivian, said that 50 people arrived at around 12pm and that another flight with 150 passengers is to arrive later on Saturday.
The Maldives Consulate General in Trivandrum assisted in the evacuation.
The national airline, Maldivian, has been conducting repatriation flights since last week with the first one arriving with 199 Maldivians from Colombo in Sri Lanka. A second flight evacuated 189 people from Cochin, while 197 people returned from Malaysia last Wednesday.
All arrivals are being quarantined in government designated places, and will be tested for Covid-19 before release.
While the national airline flight departed to Trivandrum on Saturday morning, it carried over 150 care packages from families of Maldivians living there. The packages will be delivered through the Consulate General, due to the lockdown declared in the neighboring nation.
