A fire has broken out Vilivaru Island quarantine facility.

According to authorities, Maldives National Defense Force's (MNDF) Fire and Rescue team is currently active in the area to control the blaze.

MNDF reveals that the fire broke out inside a cargo container on the island, away from the area inhabited by people. The incident took place on 19:41 on Wednesday night.
