Criminal Court has issued a 10-day remand to Arshad Khalid, a suspected drug kingpin.
While the Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office decided to charge him with diamorphine trafficking on Monday, the court released Arshad with conditions after he was presented for remand extenstion.
The PG office had requested the court to review its ruling, and a hearing was held on Tuesday and Arshad was issued a 10-day remand.
Arshad, and four of his associates, were were arrested in an operation conducted on January 30, with over 9kg of heroin and 4kg cocaine.
Police also confiscated around MVR 4.6 million in the operation while Arshad’s bank account has been frozen under a court as they believe that it was used in the trafficking business.
While the Criminal Court released Arshad with conditions on Monday, his associates’ remands were extended by 10 days the same day.
